• Description: Also known as shepherd's needles, Beggarticks, Spanish needles, or Butterfly needles.This weekly species has finely toothed leaves that are mostly opposite along angled stems. The simple or pinnately 3-7 lobed leaves average 1"-4" long, and the flower heads are about 1" wide. The dry, needlelike seeds( achenes) cling to fur and clothing.
