The leaves are alternate, pinnately compound, around 7" long in overall length, rachis bearing sharp prickles; leaflets numbering 5 to 11, pubescent on their lower surfaces, ovate to oval, margins entire to crenate. Flowers: borne in small, axillary clusters, petals green with red tips. Distribution: mostly a tree of more northern climes.
