Also known as American persimmon, Eastern persimmon, Simmon, Possumwood, Possum apples, or Sugar plum. This tree is an excellent choice to attract the Luna Moth that use it as his host plant. Leaves of this tree are alternate, simple, entire, ovate to elliptic with rounded bases and acuminate tips, around 6" long. Flowers: Male flowers tubular, borne in cluster; female flowers white to greenish yellow, to about 1/2" long. Fruit: orange, round, around 2" in diameter.
