Facts about Carya Glabra host plant:
Beautiful large and strong tree that produce small nuts with a bitter testing. Also know as Pignut, Sweet Pignut, Coast Pignut Hickory and Swamp Hickory. Leaves are alternate, compound, odd pinnate, over 12" long; leaflets usually numbering five or seven ( sometime three), lanceolate, elliptic, or ovate, margins serrate. Flowers: male flowers borne in catkins, around 3 1/2" long. Fruit: A nut, borne in a thin, smooth husk that usually does not slip to the base when mature. Distribution: Dry to moist woods throughout the northern part of the state.
