Subfamily Polyommatinae: Blue butterflies

The adults are small in size with eyes black and opaque. They have six legs with wings blue above ( sometimes mostly black or brown). This specie has a small tail and tiny eyespot on the hindwings. Larvae: Sluglike; with head retracted into the body . They are green , pink or red ( often with white or yellow markings. Short hairs on the body. Pupae: Compact and rounded, green or brown almost the time. They are supported by a silk girdle around middle and a silk button at the rear end. See below some of them.
